Dr. Lawandy's Biography

Dr. Lawandy is a board-certified neurosurgeon with focus in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery. He served as the Director of Complex Spine Neurosurgery at Riverside University Health System Medical Center, Riverside, CA. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He received his medical education at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing a residency in neurosurgery at Riverside University Health System, he furthered his surgical training by completing a cranio-spinal trauma fellowship, and trained neurosurgery residents as a clinical instructor. Dr. Lawandy completed a second fellowship in complex spine at University of California, Davis, where he also trained neurosurgery chief residents as a clinical instructor. He is an assistant professor of surgery at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine and California University of Science and Medicine. He has multiple publications including book chapters and has lectured at national conferences. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS), American College of Surgeons (ACS), California Association of Neurological Surgeons (CANS), and North American Spine Society (NASS). Dr. Lawandy embraces a philosophy of care that tailors surgical management to each patient as an individual with unique complaints, pathology, and goals of Surgery.
